Information more likely to be read or changed is placed in the cache, where it can be accessed more quickly. for a browser program, a temporary disk file used to hold pages that have been downloaded from the Net in case you want to see them again without waiting to retrieve them once more. A larger cache can speed up surfing, but it may mean you're sometimes looking at information that's out of date.
