CSLIP (Compressed Serial Link Internet Protocol)
a variation of one of the popular protocols used to connect computers to the Internet over dial-up connections. With CSLIP, each packet (group of bytes) is processed to remove unneeded information before being sent over the link.

Since most current computers can process information much faster than it can be sent over a phone line, the compressed form of SLIP is generally considered a preferable alternative to regular SLIP. However, both forms are loosing favor to another protocol called PPP (Point to Point Protocol).
