Dot (.)
The period or decimal-point character. It's read often aloud as "dot."

Along with its fairly obvious use in text and numbers, the dot is also used to separate parts of a domain-style Internet address, such as "aperson@amachine.acompany.com," an IP (Internet Protocol) numerical address (such as "127.1.2.3"), and in some Internet commands to stand for the current directory.
