E-zines are publications on the Net produced because of a personal or group commitment to communicating an idea or sensibility rather than because of an expectation of profit or personal benefit. Typically, they cover a personal view of music, the arts, or a particular city or region. Many are self-consciously bizarre, while others are at best challenging for anyone outside a particular subculture.
