isr.co.ro : glossary File Server A computer, disk system, or other type of storage system that saves and retrieves files for other computers on a network. A program that runs on a network host machine to save and retrieve files. In some cases, the network host will act as a "dedicated server" doing only this task, but in many cases the same machine may host an ordinary file server, a Web server, a terminal server, a print server for managing the flow of files to a printer, and several other functions.
