In addition to the basic typing, display, and cut-and-paste functions, Global Chat supports an extensive list of "slash commands" (command instructions that start with the "/" character), including ones for managing Web references and for setting up private conversations. The software is currently available for Windows and selected Unix systems running direct network connections or with "protocol stack" connections such as PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol). A Macintosh version is said to be on the way.
