Lynx
A text-based browser (navigation and display program) for the World Wide Web and for similar webs on internal networks. In addition to browsing, it supports bookmarks, downloading to either host or client system (that is, to the computer you call up for your connection or your own computer) and direct printout of text pages.

Lynx was originally developed at the University of Kansas, but it's now available on most "shell accounts" and other text-based connections to the Internet. If you have such an account, try typing "lynx" (without the quotes) at a command prompt.

However, as graphic and animation become more common on the Web, fewer and fewer Web pages support a text view for browsers such as Lynx, and navigation on pages without direct support can be difficult or impossible.
