Mosaic
The original graphical browser program for viewing pages on the World Wide Web. It was developed at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois during the early 1990s and released in versions for UNIX, Windows, and the Macintosh.

Most popular Web browsers are based on this original NCSA Mosaic, in part because most were written by people who were hired away from the original Mosaic development team.
